چکیده

INTRODUCTION: He MRI is increasingly useful for regionally evaluating ventilation in mouse models of asthma before and after challenge with Methacholine (MCh) [1,2] Such changes can be effectively quantified by suitably normalizing the preand post-MCh images, and subtracting the two to generate a difference map depicting regional changes in ventilation[3]. However, difference mapping can in some instances be confounded by even sub-millimeter changes in the animal’s position between the two images. This problem can be addressed by registering the two He images to a common coordinate space without obscuring arising ventilation defects. Here we describe our approach to this problem, which now facilitates analyzing MCh-induced ventilation changes even in the presence of positional shifts.

Imaging lung microstructure in mice with hyperpolarized 3He diffusion MRI.

Quantitative measurement of lung microstructure is of great significance in assessment of pulmonary disease, particularly in the earliest stages. The technique for MRI-based 3He lung morphometry was previously developed and validated for human lungs, and was recently extended to ex vivo mouse lungs. The technique yields accurate, quantitative information about the microstructure and geometry of...

New Pseudo-CT Generation Approach from Magnetic Resonance Imaging using a Local Texture Descriptor

Background: One of the challenges of PET/MRI combined systems is to derive an attenuation map to correct the PET image. For that, the pseudo-CT image could be used to correct the attenuation. Until now, most existing scientific researches construct this pseudo-CT image using the registration techniques. However, these techniques suffer from the local minima of the non-rigid deformation energy f...

Optimized co-registration method of Spinal cord MR Neuroimaging data analysis and application for generating multi-parameter maps

Introduction: The purpose of multimodal and co-registration In MR Neuroimaging is to fuse two or more sets images (T1, T2, fMRI, DTI, pMRI, …) for combining the different information into a composite correlated data set in order to visualization, re-alignment and generating transform to functional Matrix. Multimodal registration and motion correction in spinal cord MR Neuroimag...

Anisotropic Nature of 3He Gas Diffusion in Mice Lungs

Introduction: Lung morphometry technique that utilizes 3He MRI [1, 2] demonstrated in vivo quantification of lung geometrical parameters in humans, comparable to those obtained through histology. As part of the broader effort, this technique, optimized for mouse lungs, allowed us to calculate mouse lung geometry comparable to histological findings. In our approach, lung airways are considered a...
